Cheap flights to perth july/aug 08?

Any tips on cheap flights to Perth WA, departing Glasgow in late July? Staying a month with friends, every site I have looked at the price is over £1000-want a lot cheaper than this, any ideas? indirect flights an option if it cuts down costs?

Thats peak holiday time in the UK... You are better off going in our winter (their summer)..

I flew on the 1st Sept 2006 and back again on 31st August 2007 and my flight cost me about £800.

£1000 is a cheap price for the time of year you want to go...

sometimes waiting to book your flight until only a short time before, say a month or two weeks even, can get you cheaper flights, as they'd prefer to have sale seats than empty seats on the plane, but there is no guarantee of cheap flights or getting the flight you want

I must say that pds 1,000 seems a lot at the best of times.

Then again, fuel costs are up etc, but July/August is our winter and usually when you can get the best off-peak rates. This bodes ill for the forthcoming summer season in Australia.

Cheaper flights are with the airlines that offer the least in creature comforts and indeed in safety- remember the difference between the Garuda crash and the BA crash last year.

It can take 3 entire days to reach Australia from the UK with an airline that stops like a suburban train.

If you have searched the Internet and come up with Pds 1,000 then it looks like that's the best on the go.
