If you live in the UK you get fantastic bargains on this kind of thing in places like LIDL and ALDI...

I bought a digital dictaphone from Lidl, works great and if memory serves i think it was about a tenner...

I got a fantastic one from Rymans.  It was more expensive (about £40) but as well as being fantastic quality, I can download each lecture through Media Player and then copy it onto a disc - which means that I can have every lecture and seminar on tape.  Great for revision and for anyone who misses a lecture!
