Question:

Cheap hair dye left patches-- what to do?

I usually dye my hair about once every two months to a darker brown than my natural light brown. So last week I decided to dye it again, bought a (cheaper) different brand that said on the box it was comparable to the color and brand I've used before. But something went wrong; I got an extremely dark (almost black!) color that left weird patches uncolored. It wasn't that I didn't reach these spots (my sister was doing the coloring), but we think the dye itself was too thick to spread evenly through my hair (it felt like glue). It's already starting to fade and the color isn't too bad anymore. But the patches are still very visible and I want to get rid of them while not totally damaging my hair. I've seen a dye at the drugstore that's for brunnettes and lightens your original color only slightly. Should i get this? or would it make the patches even more noticeable? Should i buy the same color my hair is now (from my original brand, of course)? i don't want to ruin my hair twice.

  1. Are you sure you mixed the color the right way? It should not have been too thick to use. My advise would be to go to a professional to have your hair color fixed. Then stick with the brand you usually use.
