I live in Orlando, FL and i'm a non-smoking college student. Does anyone know of any cheap health insurance or even health discount plans that I could get on just to cover the cost of my Bipolar disorder meds and possibly a couple of visits to the psychiatrist? Yearly physicals and examinations I can handle, but this psychiatrist that I see is $200.00 a visit PLUS the cost of all of the perscriptions he prescribes to me. HELP!

  1. Visit http://www.SmedleyInsuranceGroup.com. They specialize in student plans. You should be able to get a quality plan for $30-$50 a month! Dr. visit, prescriptions and everything...

  2. It is not easy to answer your question in one words, you would better find it out here yourself.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  3. If you're still in college, can't you be covered under your parents' medical insurance?

  4. Check out your school's insurance plans. Usually they're pretty affordable for students. If not check out http://www.ez-insurancefinder.com they have some great info and will give you quotes from some of the top providers.

  5. pccti you cant reach them at pccti.com are IT and healthcare. i have their health plan it's really cheap as long as you dont fall in the criteria of very expensive "candidate for health insurance"

  6. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but all the individual plans in my state, and probably in Florida as well, will decline to accept anyone with Bipolar Disorder. Your college may have a plan available that you can possibly get but those plans don't cover mental health in most cases. You can try calling some local agents that work with all the major plans to see if there are plans available to you.

Be very wary of medical discount cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of “save up to 80%” be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn’t find any doctors in the whole state that actually took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well, including FL.

Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won’t give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they’re still taking the card (many don’t even know that they’re listed as a provider) and that they’re accepting new patients.
