Cheap holiday in September!?

Hello, I have booked a few weeks off work from 29 Sep 2008 - 06th Oct 2008and would like to go away for about 3night/4days I was thinking of a City break as I like history and sightseeing. I do not want to spend anymore than £400. Any suggestions or advice would be gratefully recived.

Have you thought about Madeira?  Its a beautiful island (Portuguese) in the Atlantic ocean.  Lots of history, nice museums (beach in in Calheta, other side of the island), capital is Funchal.  You could do a short break here or to the island of Porto Santo which is smaller and famous for its beach.  

Berlin is an interesting destination for a few days, or how about Jersey.
