and i found out that i could get one hundred gallons of water from the local water station for a quarter knowing that most people dont even use two hundred gallons per month but mainly doing this would be cheaper and pay for its self in the long run and i have been trying to figure out how i would lay the system out and get it to work for all my water needs bathroom kitchen and yard my main plan was to buy a new 500 gallon water tank to be stored in a basement and another tank to take on a trailer to fill up and some kind of pump and filtration system along with a decent sized water heater and lay out my pipe and see what i could figure out but my main problem would be how do i get my water to flow like a regular city/or/well water system thank you for your time

  1. i am not sure but you should look into a water pump

  2. I really dont know where you get your info but a 1 person household will use well over 100 gallons per month..Here is a chart on the average usages of water per day..You may not use the washer and a few things here..but you do shower every day..hopefully..The shower alone is 11.6 gallons that is over 300 gallons a month itself..the toilet is averaging 18.5 gallons per day..that is getting near 600 gallons per month..I really dont know where your info comes from..but the figures do not add up..

Here is another chart..normal is about 200 per day

Believe it or not, the average water usage per person per day is 200 gallons.

    Here's how...

bullet Showering wet down, soap up, rinse off = 4 gallons

bullet Brushing teeth wet brush, rinse briefly, = ½ gallon

bullet Shaving, fill sink basin = 1 gallon

bullet Washing hands fill sink basin = 1 gallon

bullet Tub bath minimal water level = 10 to 12 gallons

bullet Flushing toilet using a smaller tank = 4 to 6 gallons

bullet dishwashing washing and rinsing in the sink = 5 gallons

bullet automatic dishwasher short cycle = 7 gallons

bullet washing machine short cycle with minimal water level = 27 gallons

bullet Outdoor watering average hose = 10 gallons per minute

bullet leaks - even a small drip can add up to 25 gallons per day

The above gallon usage is calculated minimally. You can count on using quite a bit more if you leave the water running while brushing your teeth, shaving, washing the dishes, using old toilets that require more water, running the dishwasher and washing machines on longer cycles and filling the bath tub to the top.  Remember, water is not cheap or limitless. Please use this natural resource wisely and save on your water bill.

  3. If you live in the country, where there are no city water lines, buying water and transportating it CAN be a good idea.

If you live within the city water grid, stay with the city water. The costs of transporting water plus the nominal water costs are far greater than the cost of city water.

I have a heavy duty pickup truck with a big engine (6 MPG) and about $1000.00 of tires and wheels to pull my 1000 gallon water wagon to my orchard. In the summer, I use 1000 gallons per week to water my seed beds, but I NEED the water. The costs now are such that I don't think I can have seed beds.

Stay with the city water if you can, it's cheaper in the long run
