Question:

Cheap or free summer dance classes for teens in San Francisco?

I have a strong desire to explore dancing and I have taken hip-hop for a year and some ballet and I have been told I am a natural, an advanced beginner. I want to take as many classes but sadly most of the ones offered are just too expensive and I can't afford it. I want to take hold of the opportunity during the summer since I have so much time on my hands. I am an avid fan of So You Think You Can Dance and America's Best Dance Crew and I want to start learning and improving now before its too late. I am 16, just like when Sabra, the winner of SYTYCD, started dancing, so I know I can do it. PLEASE HELP!!!

I am looking for hip hop, jazz, contemporary/modern, ballroom, and ballet classes. Whatever you know will help me out.

  1. Classes arn't free sweetie.

  2. I was in a similar situation to yours, I wish I'd started dancing way earlier!

But yeah...I don't know of any specific places in San Francisco, but try some community colleges or similar places. The classes would probably be really basic, but it couldn't hurt to learn the fundamentals anyway.

I'm in the Sacramento area and I'm taking some dance classes at Sac City and they're all FREE! And I'm still in highschool too.

So explore what some community colleges have to offer dance-wise.

    Hope this helps.

  3. There's a dance studio in mission (a few actually).  here's one where they have classes specifically for teens:  http://www.dancemission.com/youth_progra...  i think the schedule still says Spring, but I'm sure you can call and get the more current schedule.

there's also Rhythm and Motion or something like that...I believe that's in Mission as well.

    I hope these helps.

I'm looking for a hip hop class myself.
