  1. The Ramblas. Great youth-hostel,in the center, and for only 20 euros per night more or less. There are other options, but u gotta check the Spanish youth hostel asociation for them:

    However,they're situated worse than Ramblas.

SO,my honest recomendation with no doubt,Ramblas.

  2. punch a police man and you get free accomodation

  3. There are plenty of places in the Barcelona area, i counted over 80 with the word "beach" on this site.

One which is really getting raves is this one:

    Chic Basic Born Hotel:http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain...

It's described as being in the  the hip part of town, “Barcelona’s Soho”, where all the trendy restaurants, cafes and boutiques are, ten minutes away from the **Barceloneta beach** , ten minutes away from the Cathedral and the medieval city.

Have a look at the pictures .... it's a new deign concept.

" Chic & Basic Born Hotel means a new hotel concept in Barcelona; with chromotherapy in all the rooms, an alternative way of using colour energy contained in a ray of light to balance our minds, souls and bodies…. You will decide the colour you want to be immersed in every moment, depending on your mood, or state of mind " ...... blah blah blah, but i've heard good things about it.

If that doesn't convince you, then this the cheapest place to find hotels in Barcelona :

    Barcelona Accom :http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain...

    Ramblas Area :http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/Spain...

    etc etc

Good luck - btw you can sort the hotels by price, location , star rating , last minute specials or year round discounts.

  4. Most visitors stay in or near the Ramblas or in the Gothic Quarter just to the east. This is a good base from where you can explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada Família Cathedral, and Parc Güell in the north. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelo... for more details

  5. If you want to be right in the think of things, I'd stay innthe Barri Gottico which is where the Ramblas are located. This is where you'll find all the bars, clubs etc and you'll be within easy walking distance to the beach and Barceloneta. There are plently of hotels and apartments around Las Ramblas which is in the heart of the city.

I've used these two companies before for cheap accommodation: try out http://www.holiday-velvet.com/barcelona for apartments and for hotels you can take a look at

  6. Suggest Holiday Inn Express or H-Top Hotel chains. Easy to book on the internet. Try also www.booking.com
