Question:

Cheap places to stay in Edinburgh?

I'd like to stay at a bed and breakfast, but hotels work, too. I will basically go with whatever is cheapest.

I'm traveling in a group of 4.

Also, no hostels please. Any suggestions?

  1. I always recommend this B&B

The Kinnaird Guesthouse is situated close to the A8, serving Edinburgh from the west, including Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport

The world famous Prince’s Street and Castle are only minutes away making the Kinnaird an Ideal base for touring the city on foot.

    * En-Suite facilities available in all rooms at the Kinnaird, West Maitland Street. The Kinnaird, Morrison Street is limited with three en-suite rooms. The other rooms have shared toilet and washing facilities.

Car parking facilities are available opposite the Kinnaird Guesthouse.

  2. Self catering might work well for you. Since you'll have four people the costs will be split 4 ways. I'm going to Edinburgh in a few months and I booked a two bedroom/ two bath self catering flat for £90 per night. Many of these sites also search B&Bs.

I booked thru this site but there are tons of sites for self catering: http://www.festivalapartments.com/index....

    Have a great time!

  3. During my last stay I was at the St. Christopher's Inn, but that might be too much of a hostel-type thing for you.

The parents of a friend of mine stayed at the armadillo once and were quite happy there, and I was at the Kariba Inn for a few nights hwich was ok value for money, and I see from their website that the decor isn't all garish pink flowers anymore, but you can see for yourself from the link below.

Both are quite good as far as location is concerned, too. Enjoy your trip!
