Question:

Cheap places to stay near the SECC?

Being the big sap I am I bought my boyfriend a ticket to Slipknot on Dec 8th (I await the slipknot flaming, flame away)

Unfortunately I can't get the time off work to go so I've just got him a ticket (when we talked about it he said he'd be happy to go alone)

I want somewhere for him to stay overnight that's decent and safe as I'll worry about him (dunno why he's 6'5 3rd Dan Blackbelt lol)

But I can't afford the expensive hotels around it that I know of?

  1. Check out these links - http://www.belhavenhotel.com/index.html

There are loads of hotels (all near each other) in the West End, which is very close to the SECC. It is a very safe place too, so no need for you to worry about him! Hope you find somewhere suitable and your boyfriend has a great time at the concert.

  2. There are 3 good hotels in the vicinity of the SECC.

    3*

Campanile Hotel, 10 Tunnel Street, G3 8HL is next to the SECC.  On Dec 8, the room rate for a double room is a bargain £55.00, All rooms are en suite with hairdriers, direct dial telephone points, tea & coffee making facilities and power showers.  Breakfast is extra - continental or full English is £6.95.  I know someone who stayed there recently and enjoyed it.

    4*

City Inn Finnieston Quay,  G3 8HN

Contemporary bedroom with iMac entertainment system, air conditioning, power shower, bathrobes and free WiFi / Broadband.

Advance Purchase Room Only  - £79.00

Advance Purchase with Breakfast  - £89.00

    4*

Crowne Plaza, Congress Rd, G3 8QT

This hotel is right next to the SECC.  The hotel has a direct link to the SECC and is also within easy reach of all that Glasgow has to offer, including the main shopping and entertainment areas.  Every room has a view out over Glasgow’s city centre or over the River Clyde.

    £94.00, breakfast is included.
