  1. I don't know that the brand really has much to do with it, but one thing you really need to be sure of is that it is for a home theater and not for an office.  Look for the lumens...that determines if they are for a bright area (office) or a dark area (home).  I'm not sure what the lumens should be for home, but going to a local electronics store and talking to the sales associates should be helpful.

We have one in our house and we love it.  We bought ours at Best Buy and paid around $800-900 for ours and it is a low end one.  I think ours is a Sharp or a Sony (I'm not sure).

I will give you a tip on how to save money.  Instead of buying a screen, go to a local craft/material store and purchase the material to make your own screen.  We have one that is 105 inches diagonal and paid $17 for it.  Yes, that is right, less than 20 bucks!  :)  We bought the material at JoAnn's Etc and it is the white-out material (used as a backing on curtains to keep light from coming through them.  Ask any of the ladies behind the counter and they will know what you mean).  We stapled the material to the wall (making sure it was very taught) and then nailed some trim (that we got at Lowe's) around it to make it like a picture frame.  We painted the trim a flat black and it looks wonderful!
