Cheap transportation from Detroit to Grand Rapids?

i already know about amtrak, megabus, and greyhound

it can also go to kalamazoo or a city near Grand Rapids (like Holland)

I like Amtrak!!  It's cheap and easy and you can bring on whatever you can carry - within reason of course.  The bus is smelly and cramped.  And you have to deal with traffic jams and construction and things like that - even though you're not the one driving.

Can you find someone to carpool with?

You could just contribute towards expenses or trade off driving.

take the Amtrak "Wolverine service" to kalamazoo from detroit, then take the thruway motorcoach service from kalamazoo to grand rapids.

Mega bus, Gray hound and Amtrak are your only options for a cheap means of travel.

But as far as most comfortable, I recommend the Train.
