Am going to Paris for 2 days, and would like to buy some wine as I understand its cheaper there than in the UK. I would go to a supermarket but the big Carrefours etc are all on the outskirts. Where can I get similar in the city?

  1. Not all Carrefours are in the outskirts. Plus its not that far if you take the metro.  Champion is another good place to go get wines at.  There are tons of small stores all around Paris, just walk around, you're bound to run into it.

    Good luck on your search!

  2. Monoprix. I got a nice corked bottle of wine for about a Euro.

  3. With the strength of the pound against the euro right now and given the fact that there's alot of inexpensive French wines, you really should be able to walk into any grocery store and get a bargain.  There are specialty stores like Nicolas, and you can still get good prices but your best bet is grocery stores.  There are chain grocery stores -  Franprix, Champion, Champion and G20 that are worth investigating.  There are large Monoprix stores all over the city that will definitely have what you are looking for.   There's an upscale Monoprix near Montparnasse (literally across the street from the Tour) called Inno.  Worth a look for wine and every other fun thing!

If you are taking the Eurotunnel, there's shopping just over the border in Calais.  There's a large Carrefour there.

    Have a good trip!
