Pretty sure its the compressor that's shot. Would click a few times, then do nothing instead of starting up. Think its 4-6 years old.

  1. Go shopping, new is good, buy the best fridge you can afford your gonna use it ALOT.

  2. The compressor may be under warranty, in which case replacing it is free.  Such was the case with my refrigerator; the warranty was 7 years.  If not under warranty, it will probably be cheaper to replace just the compressor -- but if the unit is more than ten years old, replacing the whole thing will be cheaper in the long run because the newer ones use less power.

  3. If you are able replace the fridge.  Compressors are expensive plus the labor.....oh my!

  4. Replace the whole thing if you can afford it. Do shop around. many appliance stores have better deals than HD or Lowes'
