I live in San Francisco. Looking for cheapest airfare to Bangkok (or Phuket). So far the cheapest is Expedia (little over $1700). I tried SideStep (too expensive), as well as China Airlines (site doens't work well).

  1. Hello,

China Airline is the best bet for you. I know their website sucks, but they have promotion right now. You can fly round trip for just over $1000. Please check on that...

  2. Go to the link below and call them,  LA has the cheapest.

  3. go to your nearest Thai restaurant and ask them where they buy their tkts when they go home...

  4. Yahoo Travel shows China Airlines as your best price- $1331 r/t from SFO to BKK.

It depends on your travel dates- I found a r/t flight on Asiana Airlines in December for just $1084!

  5. Eva air. i live 30 miles from sfo and i have been to Thailand 10 times ( my wife is Thai ) . she left last week and her ticket was $1,100 round trip. Eva has been the cheapest for the last 3 years for the trips we have took. sign up for their mileage plan before you buy a ticket so you get the miles.

  6. Try Cathay Pacific, they have fares from SFO to BKK for about $1,380 total and for a little over $1,000 after Sept.1, plus they're a great airline. You might want to call or keep trying China Airlines too, they're usually the cheapest on the SFO-BKK route. If the fares are comparable, I really recommend Cathay Pacific over China Airlines, much better in-flight entertainment and going through the Hong Kong Airport is a lot nicer than through Taipei. You don't say when you want to fly, but fares are a lot higher before and after the Olympics which start 8-8-08, if you're looking to fly during that period $1,700 isn't bad.

  7. I heard about this website compete4yourseat.com. You enter your information and travel agents come in and provide you offers.  Maybe someone has unused or leftover seats and can give you a better rate.

  8. Try Orbitz... The price of fuel and the airport tax at BKK are a significant part of the cost.  About 30% of the ticket price is fuel surcharge and airport tax.

I tried a couple websites, and didn't see anything significantly cheaper.
