I am going to India early next year to complete a field placement for my uni degree. There are four cities I could do my placement: Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Koimbatore. I will be flying out of Adelaide. Which would be the cheapest to fly into, and has the cheapest living costs?? Thanks in advance!

  1. Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai are metropolitan cities and the cost of living in these places are compratively higher (in the order provided) than the rest of India. Coimbatore would be cheapest as far as rentals and living costs are concerned. However, Coimbatore does not have an active night life, if that excites you.

These three cities would have a direct connection from Adelaide (Singapore airlines does fly to all the three locations). Since you are from Australia you may also check for Qantas. Mumbai and Chennai would provide cheapest airfares followed by Bangalore. Coimbatore does not have a direct connection but you will have to take a connecting flight either from Chennai, Bangalore or Mumbai. Chennai and Bangalore are close to Coimbatore and you the flying time is around 1 hour and you would get low cost airlines providing services at cheap rates.

Bangalore and Coimbatore are relativey quite cool during the periods mentioned by you.

Another piece of info - most of the big corporates are located in Mumbai, Bangalore followed by Chennai.

  2. first I have to tell you're going to India therefore you're going in another culture, traditions ad different way of life, very deep sense of religion(hindu)

Rinaldo spoke about night life in India ........I don't know what he means but sure is not compare to the western night life.....

I don't suggest you  live Mumbay  because is the more expensive, crowdy and polluted town in  India...about 20 million of people...I use to say..the town never ending

the best choice for you I think is Bangalore....and about the living cost is affordable...all depends what you need
