  1. 10 years ago it was the toyota tercel id say

  2. Toyota Echo won Edmund's lowest cost to own in a five year, so it would stand to reason, the same would hold true in a 10 year.. It is a Toyota, after all, so you know it's going to hold it's value better than others.

  3. I don't know about the Tercel. I have heard that they are good. We have had a Honda Accord (one of the ones made in Japan) since 1985. It cost $11,500. We have had to change the fan belt and replace a lot of the other belts. The brakes have been renewed several times, but this is expected wear. The car has 225,000 miles on it and has never had a problem. It has the original transmission. The body is in decent shape for being parked outside. The insurance is very low: we have no collision. Three fill-ups cost more than the value of the car except that it always starts, it always performs reliably, it is easy to drive and maintain, so its value is much more than the money we could get for it. I don't know how many times we have given jumps to other cars that were newer or supposed to be more reliable. This is the best car our family has ever had.
