Which country in central america is the cheapest to travel too?

I've been to Costa Rica and would love to return, my next vacation is coming up but my budget is limited. Which country in Central America is the cheapest for traveling, including air fair, lodging, value of American dollar, etc.

  1. In terms of airfares, Costa Rica may be cheapest. Cancun, Mexico also can have pretty cheap airfare, and from there one can go to Belize and Guatemala.

Once, I took a plane to Cancun, then took a bus to Belize, then into northern Guatemala, then the Guatemalan highlands, then west into Mexico's Chiapas province, and north into the Yucatan and back to Cancun (southern Mexico is relatively cheap as well but not as cheap as Central America).  Lots of fun.  That would only be if you had a lot of time, though.

As far as once you're there, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua are all dirt cheap, especially in rural areas. I once stayed in a Guatemalan hotel that was $1/ night... the mattress was an inch thick and it was profoundly ugly but it was livable!

  2. Nicaragua or Honduras.

  3. nicaagua

  4. Honduras is pretty cheap but getting there can be costly at times. If you can time your trip after all the spring breakers are gone and before summer starts you can usually find affordable airfare.

Stay at smaller hotels instead of the big American chains and you will cut down on costs. Eat at local places too, instead of places such as TGI Fridays.

Within Honduras you can make your stay as expensive and luxurious as you want or you can make it relatively inexpensive. It's all up to your choices!

    Good luck and have fun!

  5. I'm Traveling To guatemala in August and my ticket was $343 Round trip. On Yahoo travel

  6. The airfare would be based on where you are coming from and which country you are going to.The  country doesn't have anything to do with determining the cost of airfare. The airline determines airfare  based on competition, fuel and equipment costs, air miles, etc.

Guatemala,Nicaragua,Honduras and El Salvador are the least expensive, but in the rural areas of Costa Rica,Belize and Panama the living expenses aren't really that much different.Regarding the value of the US dollar,it is what is it is. Although it fluctuates, it makes little difference on a daily basis.Having traveled throughout all the countries in Central America I see very little difference in the cost of the basic necessities.

In my opinion, your proficiency in the language has much more to do with what your costs will be in Latin America than any of the things that you have mentioned.
