I´m planning to move to Texas in the next months. So, my question is which city would you recommend me. I would like San Antonio, Austin, Forth Worth, Houston. If every thing goes well I´m might earn 41,000 to 45,000 per year. So which city would be better for me with that money. Thank you all.

  1. Houston has the cheapest real- estate, but you will spend a lot of money on gas and time driving because it has some of the worst traffic in the country, especially if you'll live far from your work.

Austin is a bit more expensive, but traffic isn't bad.

  2. I think it's cheapest here in Houston, if you don't mind humidity.

  3. It's relative.  Do you have a job?  Then, great...San Antonio hands down.  No job well, it's going to be a bummer no matter where you live.  Look for coupons.

  4. San Antonio is probably the cheapest.  Especially when it comes to getting around.  Dallas, Ft Worth and Houston have horrible traffic.

San Antonio isn't quite as bad.  I have friends that live in both dallas area and Houston and they think that San Antonio is cheaper.

I've  lived  here all my life and love it.  You have to look at all things when comparing,  housing,  traffic, jobs, food,  entertainment also travelling.  San Antonio is centrallly located.

  5. the cheapest city to live in would be houston, prices have gone so far south on homes you can get a 1800 sq foot home now for under 150K...live expenses are cheap as well

  6. San Antonio is most probly the cheapest.

I live there and have been living here for 5 years.

Now houston and austin aern't super expensive depending on where u wanna live.

Houstons highways are insane, trust me.

Austins night life is amazing! But scary.

    and

San Antonio can get very humid.

so i guess it just depends on what u like and don't like.

    :]

  7. Using a cost of living calculator you will find that if you make $45,000 in Houstin it would cost about $46,000 to live in San Antonio, $44,600 in Fort Worth and $48,600 in Austin.  However, you must consider that the lifestyle in these three cities is completely different.  While Austin and San Antonio are similar in climate they are very different in lifestyle, and Houston and Fort Worth have not only different lifestyles but different climate issues as well.
