  1. I'm in the process of joining Tiscali. Its £4.69 for 3 months and that includes free calls. I'll be glad to leave BT. They haven't got the monopoly on phones like they used to and I'm so glad there are so many options out there.

  2. I am with probably the best service provider in the UK today, OK they may not be the cheapest, but I am saving compared to BT and the customer service dept is superb. Had a problem with the line and my company kept in touch 5 times in one day while the problem was being sorted and then called back 3 times to check every thing was working fine.

Later this year they launch their own voip network over Europe, which, if the pattern in N. America is followed will result in free calling for a small monthly fee.

Email me if you would like more details.

  3. tiscali-I pay £20 p.m and get broadband and all landline calls 7 days a week anytime without the cap of 1hr on the phone-NO line rental on top of this -no line rental to b.t either when you get another provider.

  4. Try Talktalk, I pay line rental, phone bill, broadband the lot to them and its never over £20 a month , and my missus is NEVER off the phone.Just go into carphone warehouse to sign up.

  5. Have a look at www.moneysavingexpert.com

Very interesting break down of all your options

  6. So many options out there isnt there. Compare and look at the small print.

    1) How long is the contract? If its a special line rate you will find that they get far more money back over the rest of the contract ie if its £5 prer month for 3 months is it £20 for the next 2 years? Which you have commited to pay.

    2) A lot of companies offer free evening and weekend calls but subject to a connection charge. This means you could be paying a minimum of up to 10p for every call you make even to a free phone number.

    3) Rounding up to nearest minute. Some companies will round up to nearest minute making the quick " you nearly home" call to a mobile expensive, ie 10p connection + 20p per minute to mobile= 30p for a 15 second call.

Think how you use the phone and work out if its better to have high connection charges but low line rental or the other way round.
