Like those!

I want to do some beginner photography, so I was wondering of the best-quality, cheapest camera out there.

I'm not looking for something great, and I don't expect a cheap camera to be, so don't lecture me on that please.

  1. The first example is a Nikon D80. This is a digital SLR.

The second example looks like some sort of land camera:

For serious photography, you can find used manual SLRs with a lens on eBay for under $50. Some key brands to look for: Zenit, Praktica, Pentax. Old Nikon and Canon cameras have developed a cult-like following so they've become pretty expensive.

If you're looking for something like "pop" photography (lomo, Polaroid, etc.), you can find these cameras on eBay and at specialty sites. Just be wary of what film it takes and what the working condition is.

  2. You can find good used Nikon 35 mm cameras with a standard lens for under $200 on craigslist in a city near you.

    Samples.
