Cheapest places to eat in Cancun? Fun places?

Comming on a budget next week, so looking for cheap but good food. Also, where can i find some fun places, besides rainforest cafe? What is Captains Cove? I hear everyone say i should go, whats it like?

I was in Cancun 2 weeks ago and the cheapest good food was at VIPS which is located infront of the convention center. meals there run about $8 per person including beverage. They have Mexican and American food there.

Italianies is a good reasonable italian resturant. It is located in the ISLA mall. We paid about $40 for 2 people including wine and tip.

All of the other meals we had in Cancun were between $90-$150 for 2 people.

Do not go to Casa de las Margaritas in La Isla mall. It was $90 for 2 people and the food was not as good as Mexican food in the US.

Carlos and Charlies was a lot of fun and the food was good. It was $100 for 2 people including 2 large drinks each and tip.

All of the above amounts are in dollars based on my credit card statement.
