zoom airlines, the cheapest by far....but not flying everywhere.

continental in terms of value for money is the best.

On-line, continental does if your book 2 weeks or more in advance, United Airline too.  you have to keep search the internet.

Depending whereabouts in the US I find Virgin cheapest.

Go to the airline check in desk say you want to go 'stand-bye' ask how much cash they are looking for the next no-show.  You will be asked to wait but usually it doesn't take long, usually around $100 from major airports, not a lot of people know that, you can be sitting next to people who have paid 10 times as much.
