  1. Silly David, of course it's not free! And you probably want to get a reserved ticket ahead of time if you're going at any sort of peak time. This site gives some good advice on buying tickets.

    If you go on a rainy day in February, you might even be able to get in (and this would be for the lowest price) buying your ticket at the door! (As my husband did!) But don't risk it if it's really important to you!

    If your Italian is okay to middling, this site has the best price for tickets (as little as 1 euro 50 for EU citizens up to 8 euro). as there's no middle man. You can buy online here:
