Cheapest route to India?

Question

I'm trying to get from the Washington, DC area to Bangalore, India. All the travel sites (including kayak.com) want to send me through New Delhi. Seeing as India is a big country, it seems odd that all international flights go through one airport. Anyone have any useful info on airlines to fly, cities to go through, or any first-hand experience with traveling to India that might be helpful? Thanks

ah, go through London. many connecting flights to india from there, and at fairly low fares. The lowest fares are to india Via Dubai, Malasia or singapore, but unfortunately you would have yo go out of your way to get there =)

Airfrance and Lufthansa fly to Bangalore via Europe from IAD. Better approach a travel agent and try to book the tickets.
