Cheapest time of year to fly to Tampa?

We want to fly to Tampa Fl. in March. We live in Oregon. When is the best time of year to buy tickets? I heard it was feb-march but we are leaving in march and wanted to buy them before that.

I'm a little confused...in the title you want to know the cheapest time to fly to Tampa...but in the body of your question you say your dates are set and just want to know the cheapest time to buy for those dates.

The cheapest time to fly to Tampa is when the least number of other people want to go there.  Likely that will be when school is in session, or right after the end of a big travel season.  I'd say September and February.

But if you're already decided on going in March...the cheapest time to buy your tickets is likely ASAP.  You can check out farecast.com and they will predict if fares are going to go up or down.  Also orbitz and/or travelocity are now offering refunds if you buy tickets from them and the price goes down...but I think one of them markets that like an insurance policy that you have to pay like $5 or $10 for.
