  1. I'm not sure when exactly you are traveling or how old you are, but there is a direct train from Cologne (Koeln) to Amsterdam via the fast ICE train. Go to Deutsche Bahn's website (link below) and do your search there. If it is one-way, you could possibly get your ticket for 19 Euros, otherwise it may be more like 48 Euros.

  2. Not sure where you are writing from, but if this part of a larger trip I would suggest a eurail pass of some sort.  You can get really small and fairly cheap 2 or 3 country passes that would get you there and give you a ride back or to elsewhere.

If you are in Cologne now I would imagine the cheapest trains out of there have a site you can book through, or just go down to the hofbahnhof.

  3. There is an offer from deutsche bahn normally for 19 euros from Koeln to Amsterdam. (1 way). Here is the direct link for it in english. Here, choose your route and book. http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.e...

  4. I DONT KNOW WHEN YOU WANT TO TRAVEL BUT HERE IS A DEAL I FOUND FOR JULY.

  5. If you need to buy a ticket like this, it will cost about EUR70 one way. If you plan on traveling more, a Rail pass will save money.

If you know your exact dates, however, you can book through the German train system ans save money if you plan ahead. You can book online with a credit card, but are obligated to travel with a specific train at a specific time and often with a specific seat. You can book, pay, and print off your ticket online. I checked rough dates in June and it goes as low as EUR19!!!! This is under the special German price for "Europa-Spezial"

More likely you would have to pay EUR 29, but this is cheaper than the EUR70 price. The "Normal Price" from the German system is also cheaper at EUR48.20

Check this site for booking info, and modify your dates for cheaper tickets. Remember: Lowest =19, mid - 48, High -70

  6. There are no direct flights to Amsterdam from Köln/Bonn - you would have to make a connection somewhere and doing that would take longer than taking an ICE train from Köln.

As others have mentioned, there is a Europe special offered through die Bahn(DB) starting at €19(2nd class fare) from Köln HBf(Hauptbahnhof-main train station) to Amsterdam Centraal station.  If you can't take advantage of the €19, then try for €29 otherwise you would have to pay regular 2nd class fare which is €48.20.  The trip takes 2hrs/34mins on the ICE.  Fri and Sat departures are popular and most likely the €19 won't be available.

Another cheap alternative would be to not use the ICE train - which would involve travel on a RE/IC (Regional train/InterCity train).  The price would be €37 for 2nd class travel and take 3hrs/39mins and involve 3 train connections.  http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.e...

You are allowed to bring your favorite snacks, drinks, sandwiches with you on the train.  There is a restaurant car on the ICE and IC trains, but prices are expensive and you could do better bringing your own food.

If you are interested in the €19/29 Europe specials, you are better off buying the ticket online prior to arrival in Köln - you must first sign up with a user name and password with die Bahn.  If buying a regular fare ticket (€48.20 or €37), you could purchase those at the Köln HBf a couple days before your travel date but go to bahn.de and print a copy of the train schedule you want to take and bring it with you just in case the DB ticket agent does not speak English.
