  1. be advised there are TWO vancouver's one in Washington stated

and the other in Canada (BC) which Vancouver are you talking about?

  2. Which Vancouver??? BC or WA? Either way using public transit is the cheapest option and can be done though it requires a lot of transfers. For space considerations, I'll list the route #'s and system names without all of the extraneous information. First I'll list northbound. From Seattle to Vancouver BC total cost about $6 one way. Start out on Sound transit bus #510 to Everett, transfer to Skagit Transit bus #90x to Mt. Vernon, transfer to WTA bus #80x to Bellingham, transfer to WTA bus# 70x to Blaine (Canadian boarder crossing) Walk across the international boarder and board a local transit bus ride to the nearest SkyTrain station and transfer to SkyTrain into Vancouver, BC If you are going from Seattle to Vancouver,WA this is the sequence with a total cost of about $8 one way; Start on a Sound Transit bus# 594 to Lakewood, transfer to a Intercity Transit bus# 601, 603 or 620 to Olympia, transfer to a Intercity transit bus#12, 13 or 68 to Tumwater Square, transfer to a CAP Transit bus#2 ride to Longview transit center, transit to a CAP Transit bus #1 to Salmon Creek, transfer to a C-Tran express bus# 105 to Vancouver & Portland. Good Luck hope this helps.

  3. While I was living in Seattle I rented a car for the day and drove up. Check  around to get the cheapest rate and be sure to join the rental agency's club to get an even lower rate. I only paid around $22 for 24 hours last summer. Be sure to prepay for gas so you can take the car back on empty as long as the agency's per gallon rate is at least as cheap as the pump price.

p.s. If you have never been across the International Border be forwarned that you may not get the warmest greeting and may also be subject to random searches and interrogation. And this is not only going into Canada but on the way back into the US.
