I would like to know if it is cheaper to buy ticket online or physically in Italy from Rome to Florence? Is there any discounts for students or young people below 25 and if yes what proof of identity do they as for? Thanks in advance

  1. The online price and the price at the station are the same. There are discounts that include people in that age range, but you have to be a resident of Italy and have an address here to sign up for the Cartaviaggio card. You can get the Amica fare though - there's no required ID, it's available to anyone on Eurostar and Intercity trains, but there are limited seats available. The earlier you get the ticket, the more likely you are to have a seat available at the discounted price. If you can't get to a station to do this easily in advance, then the online booking would be an advantage.
