depends on what country you are calling from... Some companies sell international calling cards, which are often cheaper (check the rates), But these days you can usually set up a pretty awesome deal with the phone provider (If you are using your home phone) From the UK to US it's fairly cheap most of the time, and from Europe, you may be able to get a countrywide package (mine costs 3 euros a month!!) That will allow you unlimited free calls to the US (but often doesn't include cell phones!)

So the short answer is shop around, check the rates and go from there..

BUT.. be careful if someone from the US wants to call YOU.. US international calling rates can be VERY VERY high, they should always check with thier phone provider about what the rates are.. My freind just got a call from relatives in the US... The call lasted 20 minutes, and cost them $50 !!!!
