  1. Plane is definitely the cheapest way to go.  Even by car, it would take about 6 tanks of petrol, and that could cost you $100 per tank, take about 3 or 4 days, then buy your meals, and maybe accommodation.  There are always Campavan rental places that offer ridiculously low rates to return their vehicles, but fuel.....wheww.  The cheapest ticket by plane is a pair of roller skates and a couple of real strong magnets.

  2. Have heard a story of "a friend of a friend" who flew Brisbane to Perth VIA HONG KONG, and saved significant bucks.

If you can stand the 20+ hours on a plane...

Apart from that I agree with the answers above me, check out RAIL.

If your not in a hurry to get there, I imagine that would be an awesome way to go, as you get to see outback Oz along the way.

Snowpea has a good suggestion too. Sometimes rental companies will allow you to drive one of their cars, or light trucks, on the return journey.

Not sure how easy this is to do, but think I remember seeing it on one of the travel shows on Telly.

  3. consider the railway system.

travelling by train isnt luxury, but its alot cheaper than airfares right now. check with different companies on prices and departure and arrival times. depending on different cirumstances it should take about a day and a half to about 2 days to reach Perth from Brisbane, mabye even more.

do your research and you will find the best deal suited for you.

good luck, hope i helped =]

  4. check hire car rental companies.  they may have a car that needs to be driven back

  5. I just got back from perth and i live on the gold coast, however i went through brisbane.

I found virgin to be the cheapest however it did still got 640.00 return or round abouts.

I wouldnt suggest driving, petrol prices are ridiculous.

The only thing i could suggest would be to try and see if you can catch a plane to perhaps adelaide or melbourne (cheap) through say jetstar, and then connect from there to perth ( maybe you might find cheap flights again ).

However flying is definatley the cheapest option

  6. no...dont go by train...TOO LONG! and you have to stop in Sydney!

    go to http://www.virginblue.com.au

Jetstar dont fly that route and the only other option is Qantas....Virgin would be cheaper 99 times out of 100.

  7. thats cheap plus you be hear in like 5 hours not 3 or 4 days like any other way

  8. watch virgin airways there are specials around on the web, syd to bris was $49.00 the other day.

  9. Do a little investigating Jetstar dont fly to Perth but have cheap flights to Sydney where perhaps you can get a cheap Virgin flight to Perth.Train is long trip and isnt much cheaper.Bus lines travel from Sydney to Perth at econimical prices(not sure from Brisbane) but remember if you go that way you have to supply your meals etc enroute.
