Question:

Cheapest way to get to Alton Towers from Exeter?

I've tried the online travel finders, but they give ridiculous routes, eg make 9 changes on this train journey.

Im just going for the day, there are four of us.

Trying to avoid staying overnight.

A car is available, but a train would probably be best. But they all seem so expensive.

  1. Go to the Alton Towers website and type "directions" into their search facility - they can offer alternative routes and timetables.  Going by train is not going to be easy as Alton Towers is out in the countryside.  The best bet from Exeter is a train to Derby via Birmingham and then bus from Derby to Alton Towers

The car is going to be much easier and probably cheaper if there are several of you.

  2. I'm guessing train will be the cheapest. Try going when the Halloween thing is on, if you're coming so far you will want it to be extra special and that really is (especially if you stay past 9 and pay the extra £10 for the 1000 screams thing)

  3. The cheapest way would be to walk, or, if you are a bit lazy, hitchhike.
