Cheapest way to heat a home: gas, propane, or electric?

I'm sure there are many exceptions; I'm just looking for a 'ballpark' estimates for an average home. thx

I have wood heat and the cost for me is 0.  But this is due to where I live.... there are several loggers close by from 0-40 miles.  when they get a load of logs ready to haul in they trim some off the length to make them whatever size they need.  As a result there is always wood anywhere from 6" to 2' left.  I asked them what they do with this wood and they said usually they just leave it..... so now I go get this wood (still have to have it split) but now the only cost I incur are keeping wood stove up.

Usually natural gas is the cheapest followed by propane and the most expensive it electric. The cheapest of any would be a wood burning fireplace.
