My 0pponet(handle:avenli) is cheating by playing 5/1000 (opponets thinking it is 5/1), waiting for people to disconnect or resign. Once she gets alost position she stops playing. She has won all games with this method although being a weak player. Is there a way stop her?

  1. Cheating in online chess is rampant, especially on Yahoo Chess.

If you want to play online, go to a more reputable site like Red Hot Pawn or Internet Chess Club. These sites look for cheaters and ban them.

But anywhere you play, there is going to be the possibility of cheating. The only way to completely stop cheaters is to play over the board at your local club.

  2. Anywhere that you play for free you can find such behaviors. Try subscribing in a chess site. With a small amount of money you can play with regulations for the members and therefore you will enjoy the game, plus many other benefits(online lectures, access to chess databases etc) I did it myself.

  3. OK, report it. Don't play with her.

  4. tell her shes a *****

and to go suck a duck

and report her and don't play with her in chess

  5. You really should check your opponets history prior to playing them.  If they have some sort of unbelievable rating or won loss record (or many abandoned games) they are probably cheating some way and then they should be avoided.

  6. You've done part of the job already by warning people that read your question.

That's gotta make you angry. I share the frustration that you described.

I agree. There is some bad sportsmanship existing to the point of cheating.

Example: Yahoo! would have prevented the 5/1000 games if they thought of it.

To back them up, Yahoo! is asks You to tell them about these things:

    At Chess on Yahoo! Games

    http://games.yahoo.com/games/login2?page...

Yahoo! asks you: What do you think?

They want to hear what you think about the All-New Yahoo! Chess.

What do you like? What don't you like?

What features would you like to see included in future upgrades to the game?

Help them make Yahoo! Chess the best Chess on the Internet!

So I recommend: Write your specific comment there, Submit it,

and then stop worrying about it.  You're above all that.

    • You will use ratings as one measure of your own improvement at chess.

    • She will use rating points to measure how much she can cheat.

All she can get is rating points. She can't buy groceries with them.

You will better yourself.  We can pity her, and move on to better things.
