Check Declined?

I just tried to buy something where I work, and the check had to be called in. They called it in, and the check was declined, but when I used my debit card (same account as my declined check) it went through.

They will decline checks with a code 4...It means that they do not have you in their database. You may have been writing checks there before, However, if the store switches verification companies. (Telecheck to Certegy) you have to start over with a new history.....
You may never have had a check returned before in life, Believe me I know how embarassing it was for you.
