Check engine light????

i have a 2003 honda civic si and i had the check engine light for 2 days and after that the light went off and i noticed that when i open the switch it blinks 5 times what should it be????

note: the check engine light appeared after i change my engine oil

  1. Open what switch?  When you turn the key on and the check engine light blinks it is telling you that not all of the monitors have run.  If the check engine light blinks while driving a catalyst damaging misfire has been detected.  

    Check engine lights after oil changes are sometimes related to incorrect oil viscosity causing problems with the VTEC pressure sensor reaction.  OR.....  NO OIL....

    I recommend having someone with a scan tool retrieve the DTC.  The DTC will tell you which system the PCM saw a problem with and maybe what type of problem it saw ie, open circuit, short circuit etc...

    Even though there is no check engine light currently on, there will be a history DTC stored.  Unless of course the DTC has been cleared or the battery disconnected.
