all my friends are atheists and 1 of them sent me this link. They make sense and some mean that the catholic church has 2 b wrong about some of their stuff.when things are out of our control we like to think that God might step in to fix things. Is the only reason I believe because I fear the possibility of events in my life spiralling out of control and not having a powerful being to rectify them.Only I can answer this i suppose but please respond with how you can uphold your faith when logic and reason is absent.

  1. You may want to consider that the God you believe in does not exist, but this doesn't mean NO Gods exist.

It is true that the God of the Bible can not exist. It is scientifically and logically impossible. But other deities, helpful ones with different characteristics, certainly could. I know it may be scary to imagine because you have been taught you could go to h**l for even thinking it, but I assure you this is not the case. Good luck in your search.

  2. “Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear” - Thomas Jefferson

  3. logic and reason aren't absent in my faith.  Don't let anyone take away your hope.

Pro 10:14   Wise [men] lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish [is] near destruction.

Rom 1:22   Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

  4. Ok.. You asked. Here is the question: why do you still believe? if this makes sense to you?

  5. You still believe because Jesus is in your heart. Let's not forget about your faith. Let me tell you about Jesus. My Jesus. I’m not talking about 2000 years ago. I’m talking about today. Right now. He loves me. He loves you. Even when I’d like to escape, even when I’d like to leave this life, just for a moment, He’s there. And He’s there when I go down, when I fall, when I want to do things that would hurt me, when I feel sick to my stomach (or is it my heart?) and depressed because I don’t understand myself, or anything for that matter. He is there. He’s there when I’m crying and I think no one is listening. And He’s there when I feel lonely because everyone seems to be studying for some sort of test, and no one seems to have the time to just talk for one minute about something besides grades. He’s there when I make mistakes. And He’s there when I doubt. When I wonder how all these things can be happening in my life.

And then, there’s those times- the times when my heart races because I just know that something is about to happen. The times when I open my mouth to speak, and the words that come out are not my own. The times when I wake up in the middle of the night and just pray, with more honesty than I could muster up during daylight. The times when I feel an overwhelming presence that could be nothing less than that of the all powerful God. The times when I’m so filled with love and joy that I see everyone around in a different way. The times when I’ve been so overcome with passion that it’s borderline scary. The times when I hear the voice of God, and have to act upon it. The times when I jump up and down, just because I’m so happy to be alive, and to be living (there is, as I’ve found, a difference between the two.) The times when I know I’m accepted by Him, regardless of the way I act. Freedom. So go ahead- ask me about Jesus. My Jesus.

  6. Don't try to uphold it!

Search for truth instead, no matter where it leads you.

Ask questions. Make your own reflections. Try to think outside the tiny box you have been brought up in.. That's the only advice I can give! I did it myself.. And I became an atheist because of that.

Perhaps you will too. Or perhaps you won't. Maybe your faith will grow stronger, even.. But you NEED to be able to justify it, never the less. Completely blind faith is not a virtue in any way. It can even be slightly dangerous! So the sooner you decide to let go of your indoctrination, the better. Figure out for yourself what you believe, and do that by educating yourself. Good luck..

  7. If quotes are all it takes to influence you just look at the people involved and their lifestyles....

Nietzsche died in an insane asylum and had contracted syphilis,

Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris both hate Christianity and their irrational writing wouldn't sell 10 copies if it wasn't bashing Christianity.  (I just finished reading one of Hitchen's books and tossed it in the recycle...it read like a man desperate for anything to hate and argue without evidence.)

    etc. etc.

    How about these quotes then...

"Merely having an open mind is nothing; the object of opening a mind, as of opening the mouth, is to shut it again on something solid."  G.K. Chesterton

"God exist whether or not men may choose to believe in Him. The reason why many people do not believe in God is not so much that it is intellectually impossible to believe in God, but because belief in God forces that thoughtful person to face the fact that he is accountable to such a God." - Robert A. Laidlaw

"There is no incompatibility between science and religion... Science shows that God exists." - Prof. D. Barton, Nobel Prize Chemistry

"The principle of [divine] purpose ... stares the biologist in the face wherever he looks ... . The probability for such an event as the origin of DNA molecules to have occurred by sheer chance is just too small to be seriously considered ... ."Ernst Boris Chain - Nobel Prize in medicine

"If I had no other data than the early chapters of Genesis, some of the Psalms and other passages of Scripture, I would have arrived at essentially the same picture of the origin of the universe, as is indicated by the scientific data." Nobel Prize-winning physicist Arno Penzias (Big Bang Theorist)

If you are interested in science perhaps you should read John Polkinghorne (Quantum Physicist and recently Christian priest) " Many people have a very outdated picture of what science tells us about the world. "

C.S. Lewis, Alister McGrath and Lee Stroebel are examples of atheists that have looked the evidence and become Christians.

Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens are like C.S. Lewis before his search and conversion.

"I was at this time of living, like so many Atheists or Anti-theists, in a whirl of contradictions. I maintained that God did not exist. I was also very angry with God for not existing. I was equally angry with Him for creating a world." -  C.S. Lewis

"Truth is absolute and knowable and must be searched for diligently, but many will try to hide it, deny it or muddy it." -   Bai Leung.

    1 Corinthians 1:18

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

May you learn about your faith and find what is true!

  8. "We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes."

    Amen to that!

  9. your beliefs should make sense.  God makes sense.  We expect Him to fix things but what He does is put them in order.  So, order yourself, your beliefs, and if something doesn't make sense, find something that does.
