Checked lugage at the airport?

am i able to put a cigar in my checked luggage? its not like a cuban one or illegal just a basic swisher sweet but can i bring it on a plain if check it in my luggage? and i also have to go though customs in canada so will the customs agents search through my bag and stuff?
