Question:

Checking My Credit Score?

Okay...it seems like everything is just a big RIP-OFF!! I tried to check my credit score before with some website and I got caught up in this fraud that kept taking money out of my account and it was not authorized so now I had to shut down that account and hold the money to myself. I really want to check my score because I want to know where I stand. I got my free credit report and on there it says that its very good but where can i find my score? I looked on the computer at Equifax, Transunion, and Experian, and it said that they're all FRAUDS and it's making me very uneasy. Is there another place outside of the internet that I will be able to get my score, and if so, where? I would really appreciate your help with this. Thank you =)

  1. Don't know of anyplace off the internet. Checking your credit score is not free....you have to buy the service from Equifax or at Myfico.com. I think it's about $15

  2. This is the ONLY site to go to.  It is set up by the three credit agencies:  Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.

Per the law, it is free, every year.  Do it every year.

All other sites are going to just take your money.  Do not be fooled.

Know, however, that there is a difference between a credit score and a credit report.  This site will give you your credit report (shows all your payment history/debt etc).  To get your actual score, you will need to pay $5-$7 dollars ONE TIME.

All three credit agencies have their own scoring method.  Each score will be different.  That's ok.

  3. ~~You will have to pay for your actual score. We are by law allowed 1 report from each reporting agency I use  www.freecreditreport.com to get ours. However they will charge you for the scores, but it isn't a rip-off. Just a one time charge for each company and I think it runs about $8 each. The only way you can get one outside the internet is if you apply for credit and can talk them into telling your score to you-not easy to get done. I can promise you free credit report will not keep charging you , I have used them often and never had a problem.~~
