Checking Sharp LCD Projector replacement bulb XGE...

I would like to checkout a Sharp LCD Projector replacement bulb (XGE 1000UI) to see if it is good, but I don't have the LCD projector with me. How can I determine if it is a good bulb without the projector? The projector is on the east coast and I would have to send it there. Any ideas? Thanks Lynne
