Question:

Checking out of a hotel over the phone?

We are in Atlanta for a wedding. We had booked a room in the Hyatt Place and had checked in earlier this afternoon. One of our family friends came and picked us up and is insisting that we stay over at their place which is about 45 minutes away from the hotel. We are already over at their place. My questions is if we can checkout of a hotel over the phone. Otherwise, I'll need to drive 45 minutes tomorrow morning and do it.

  1. I've checked out of the phone a couple of times.  Shouldn't be a problem at a national chain like Hyatt.

  2. Yes, you should be able to call the hotel and check-out over the phone.

If you have already paid for the room, and have no additional charges (mini-bar, etc.) then they probably don't need you to check-out at the front desk.

If you do have additional charges, they may be able to charge your card (if you presented it when you checked in).

However -- it would have been easier just to call and ask the hotel instead of asking us.  They won't bite!

  3. I have a GREAT idea!  Why not CALL the hotel and ask them instead of a bunch of strangers on the Internet.

I'll be the hotel can give you the CORRECT answer and save you some money to boot!
