  1. i think competitive cheerleading is for sure a sport..i know i couldnt do all that

  2. it is a great thing to do. I think about it and i think it is half and half.

  3. YES!!! I hate it when people say that cheerleading isn't a sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..I admit some cheerleading, like with JUST cheering isn't a sport,...but when we tumble, dance, and stunt it is an incredible work out. That is why we are all so fit.....its just the stereotype that makes people think that we are just s****., stuck up, skinny, b*****s that just yell and scream at games....that  is not the case at all! CHEERLEADING IS A SPORT! If it isn't then why is it on ESPN? I am sooo sick of hearing that it isn't a sport cuz it is.

  4. wimps lift weights cheerleaders lift people !

  5. Im a cheerleader and I get offended when people judge cheerleaders by a stereotype. I absolutely hate it when they say "cheerleading is not a sport, its just a bunch of trashy dumb blondes in pigtails who jump around saying go team go" if your going to say its not a sport at least give an educated reason why. Im okay with people saying that its not a sport if they give a valid reason for it not being one. I can understand why people say cheerleading isn't a sport because at some schools all the cheerleaders do is yell some cheers and do some jumps. But theres other types of cheerleading like competitive cheerleading at all star gyms, and have you seen college cheerleaders? especially coed teams. Cheerleaders have to have tumbling skills (gymnastics includes tumbling so why is that a sport and cheerleading not?) they dance, and they stunt too (trust me its not easy).I guess my point is sideline cheering is kinda not a sport but competitive cheerleading is.

  6. (Cheerleading isn't a sport to let ya know.)

  7. i'm not a cheerleader and I think it's a sport...some of the stuff you do is death-defying! impressive!

  8. It's the slack off cheerleaders who never practice, and do nothing but wave their pom poms around at football games that give cheerleaders a bad rep. (I went to a highschool with girls like this.)

Competition cheerleaders are pretty athletic, and they train hard. They are true gymnasts and love what they do.

I am not a cheerleader, but I don't think I would get mad. It is just something you have to learn to deal with.

For example...In Brazil, football IS life. Now that I am in America, the sport is put down and disrespected in favor of "American football." People think soccer is weak in comparison, and even the players seem to care less about it. In Brazil, it's the other way around.

Everyone has different beliefs regarding what defines athleticism, and what qualifies as a sport. It allows us to have a diversity of sports and competitions.

  9. It's definitely a sport if you compete... but h**l ya I get freakin upset cause we work harder than our basketball team and they're a sport... B.S.

  10. I'm not a cheerleader but I think cheerleading is a sport.  Like badminton is not much of a sport compared to something major like basketball or football, but it is still a sport.

Anyways, Cheerleading takes practice, and only athetic-type people with good reflexes can perform them! You don't see scrawny guys holding up the pyramid!

Plus they have tournaments, so that in itself makes a statement about it.

There's also technique involved, which makes it into it a sport that people can only get good at by practicing a lot.  Not to mention they have to keep up their workouts to prevent injuries, am I right!!! So that definitely makes it a sport.

  11. Yes, there is SO much stereotyping that people always judge you as soon as you say you're a cheerleader. And no one seems to realize how hard it acctually is. You need to try it before you can say all it is is jumping around and fake smiling and stuff. It just makes me really angry.

  12. to athletic for me . played lacrosse instead . very high injury risk . excellent teamwork , one small error . equals disaster . my opinion is that cheer leaders are often better athletes than team they cheer for. it may sound opiniated , but is also justified .

  13. When people say its not a sport...I start with the old have you seen what they do and what they are capable of doing!

    To justify:

Can you stand on one foot in the air get thrown up flip and twist and go up in another stunt?

You condition harder then ever do you know how flexible you have to be to be a flyer and pull a bow and arrow or a scorpion and how strong you have to be to hold them up in the air?

Ohh yeaah when was the last time you did a double full and stuck it, memorized a hard dance routine and screamed a chant infront of a huge crowd?

So all the strength and effort we put into everything you think its not a sport? How about yo go give it a try? Tell me when you do 4 flips in the air and land on one foot in a stunt buddy.

    There we go :)

  14. Yes they do. I made one really mad one time by saying that it was not a sport.

  15. Ignore the person and go with what you think. People will tell you what is and what isn't all the time. Everyone has their own opinion and most of the time it's going to be different from yours. Just ignore them and don't defend it because by defending it your giving that person what they want. Just believe what you believe.

P.S. people are a-s-s-h-o-l-e-s it will and has always been that way, just ignore them

  16. cheerleading is NOT a sport

they CHEER (using their voices for SPORT teams)

the only reason they're fit is so they can get guys and say "im a cheerleader!" yet, they dont realize........guys dont like the cheerleaders anymore! :D
