Question:

Cheerleaders...So i have my handspring tuck and layout i want to get my full or half on my tramp at home..how?

  1. Start off by practicing some jump full turns.  When you do your turn, follow these steps:

    1) Swing your arms high above your head

    2) Drop one arm down, with your arm bent, and shove your elbow back - like you're elbowing someone really hard.  That will start your twist.

    3) Take your other arm down across your chest and punch it toward your opposite shoulder - like you're punching the person you just elbowed.  That will finish your twist.

    It's all gonna happen really fast - swing, elbow, punch!  As you do the punch, make sure to look back in the direction you're twisting.  Your body will follow the direction your head goes.

    Once you've got that down, try this drill on your mom's bed:  stand on the edge of the bed with your arms up over your head, and start to fall back with a straight body.  After you start the fall, do the same arm motions described above - elbow, punch - so you spin around and land flat on your back.  Remember to stay super tight the whole time.

    Now you're ready to try it in the air, while doing a layout.  Jump high and reach, start your flip, and then FAST elbow-punch.  Stay tight!  

    If you only make it halfway around at first, that's okay.  Just keep working on it and do the elbow-punch faster.
