Is it too late for me to be a good cheerleader ? how long will it take me to catch up with the other girls? and how long does it take to learn how to do backflips and back handsprings and stuff ? please help. someone who is a cheerleader or a gymnast, can you help answer my question ?

  1. I am a level 11 gymnast and a varsity high school cheerleader, I am 14 and it took me about 3 weeks to start doing a back handspring by myself, it wasn't perfect but I had the confidence to do it!

    Good Luck and anythings possible!

  2. i am a guy cheerleader, ok i was a new bie when i was 14,  and it is never to late to learn, those back hand springs and stuff took me a good month, it depends on how much u practice, if u practice atleast 5 times a day for 10 min then it should be a month till u can do all the flips and stuff. make sure that you dont practice on your own, get a gym coach to help or go to the gym for lessons.

  3. I'm guessing that when school starts you will be a freshmen. Ok so yes you still have time. I tried out my freshmen year and I had no cheer experience. The only cheer experience that I had was going to my best-friend's cheer practices. Other than that I had no experience. I also did some gymnastics. I did enough gymnastics to know how to do kart-wheels, round-offs, handstands, the scorpion, the splits, and basic tumbling. Now before you actually try out, try and talk to the coach or other people that already made the team. Ask them if their is anything you HAVE to know how to do in order to be on the team. And remember to give it your all. I made the team and I never cheered before. And even if you cant do all the things I said i know how to do, you still have a chance. My friend made the team and the only thing she knows how to do is a baby tumble on the ground. So good luck keep your confidence high and if you mess up on something during tryouts just rally it out. Keep a smile on your face and good luck

  4. Hey im 13 and a cheerleader it took me 4 months if you really apply ur self!!!Good luck

  5. It is never to late NEVER. U r not gonna believe that i took 1 tumbiling class for cheer today and guess wat I can do a backhandspring. It depends on how the team is u dont have to be the best u just have to try ur best

    Hope i helpes PL&A

  6. It's never too late to become a good anything, but it will be a bit harder for you since you're starting late (I'm not going to lie). Since you didn't start younger, it may be a bit harder for you to do your splits, etc. because your muscles aren't used to the pressure/stretch. But it is definitely not impossible.

How long it takes for you to catch up to the other girls/learn backflips and back handsprings depends on your body type, your flexibility, the other girls' abilities, and your strength. You could have no muscle at all and take a long time to catch up, or be better than the rest in no time at all. You never know. Try searching up How-To videos on YouTube for splits and exercises to build muscles--trust me, you will need them. Be as well prepared as you can. I'm not sure what to expect for cheerleading try-outs, etc. but I do know that the work-out is intense especially if you're at a competition level (you practice almost every day of the week) and the movements are quite tough sometimes, so be warned!

I wish you the best of luck! :]

  7. It's not too late, ask another girl for help with motion and jumps, or even your tumbling coach, i'm sure she wouldn't mind.

As for how long it would take - it varies at how quick you can learn.

    Good luck(:
