Cheerleaders vs. Volleyball players.

Question

I don't get it. I was a cheerleader in high school, and now currently cheer in college. There has always been a major competition between cheerleaders and volleyball players. I don't get why? I mean, why is it these two sports that are so feisty? There's just so much tension.

1. Why?

2. Is this just an Ohio thing?

3. Has anybody else experienced this before?

1. Cheerleading is a girl sport and so is volleyballs. so girls are more likely to get into fights. Especially if your in different cliques!

2.No this happens in  just about in every state (maybe not every school) in a state but at least one school per state.

3. Yes in my high school depending on the year and class there were many verbal and physical fights between the cheerleaders and volleyball playes.

1.I think since there the most popular girl sports in high school one team thinks there better then the other and that's what builds up tension.

3.I have,I play volleyball and want to do cheer leading,and both teams go against each other and I hate b/c I have friends on both teams.

volleyball players dont feel like cheering is a sport. you dance around and shake your pom poms and throw up your skirts. and some think there is a competition cuz cheerleaders think they are "hotter" and "better". at least thats what it is at my school. its definitely not just an Ohio thing

i personally dont like cheerleading

im fine with cheerleaders but all they do is dance

i prefer volleyball

I used to be an all-star cheerleader and I'm now a volleyball player. I've never experienced the kind of tension you're talking about.

umm i'm not sure.. lol it's probably not just an ohio thing.. but i think everyone should just put aside their differences, because they're the same school, so why not root for each other?!
