Being captain can be one of the most important aspects of a cheerleading squad. A captain can make or break a team. I know that there are many responsibilities associated with the position as captain.

I may seem like the only thing I know how to do is goof off, but I really want to show the people here that I can be serious when it’s needed, I have 5 collective years of cheerleading experience, though I’ve only been a captain for 3. I’ve been in Student Council for 2 years, and most people didn’t think I could be serious enough for the position.

I know there’s a time for fun, and a time to work. I believe that in order to be a good team captain, you have to know when to stop messing around. When the coach leaves, we shouldn’t start talking, when we could be doing something to improve, whether it be motions or a new cheer.

We also shouldn’t have to put up with a captain who thinks he/she is in charge as in “What I say goes!” Even cheer captains aren’t right all the time.

  1. It's very good...although you start a lot of sentences with I. Starting some with -we- and talking about your team makes you seem like more of a team player.
