  1. A gym floor is almost exactly the same as a spring floor. I made the competition team after starting cheering only 5 months before try outs. Our competition team is like varsity. Any chance you have, stretch! It's very good you have great jumps and a great smile. Be sure at try outs you keep that smile on! I have a website all about cheerleading. Check it out! Here's the link: www.freewebs.com/cheerchick262/

  2. How competitive is your cheer squad? Do they go to competition or just cheer for sports? If they just cheer for sports and do not go to competitions you are fine. However if they do compete I would learn new moves etc. Go to clinicals that the school has or enroll yourself in a cheer and tumbling team at you gymnastics place.

  3. You should go for it!!

I bet you would make it because a backhandspring is basically the same on any type of floor. You should try practicing it on grass, carpeting, of even wood floors. Basically anywhere where you have some extra space lying around.

You sound really qualified to be a cheerleader. Just try your heart out at tryouts and you should make it. Show spirit and show off all of your awesome skills that you have girlie

  4. You pretty much have the basics of tumbiling. im not sure if u need help with stunting but o well.

backspot (is if u r tall and would risk getting hurt by grabbing the flyer

base( for ppl who arent tall but arent short. and u have to be strong to pick up the flyer(

flyer(gets thrown up caught by backspot. has to be skinny and small because u have to be able to b grabbed by the backspot easily)

this is a basic stunt. u could see there are 2 bases on the side and a backspot in the back and the flyer being held. This stunt is more like middle school cheer. These are more like the high school stunts. http://z.about.com/d/cheerleading/1/0/2/...

get a stunt team of 4 or more together

    hope i helped

  5. You might want to do one year of competitive cheerleading. This is HARDCORE cheer. There are about 6+ competitions where you compete with other gyms in that area. You need to try to through a backhandspring on the floor, or you probably won't make it. If you are small and flexible, practice scorpions, arabesques, scales, heelstretches, and balance.

  6. Sounds like you've pretty much got it...good jumps, tight moves, flexibility. You may need to work on doing more advanced tumbling if you really want something to do, but it's good that you've got the basics.
