Cheerleading levels?

I am a cheerleader, but I don't know much about the cheerleading levels. Can anyone tell me what level I am? This is what I can do:

Tumbling- cartwheel, roundoff, split, handstand forward roll, back/front handspring with a spotter

Stunts- none (but I'm learning some)

Jumps- right hurkie, toe touch, an OK double pike, and a hurler

I am very good at cheers and dances. Any cheerleaders, can you list the requirements for the certain levels, and tell me which level I would be?

  1. You would probably be on a Junior 2 team. Because this team is usually for beginners with not a lot of tumbling and stunting skills.

  2. Depending on where you live and what you cheer for it's different.

    Also you're age matters.

  3. Based on my experience I would say you would be on a level 1 team.

the typical levels in cheer are as follows:

level 1: no skills needed but most have cartwheel and roundoff

level 2: everything up to a standing back/front handspring

level 3: everything up to a roundoff backhandspring and tucks.

once you hit the higher levels such as 4 and 5 you will be required to have layouts, whips, and aerials. these tumbling skills take years to obtain.

when trying out for a competitive squad, tumbling is only a small portion. The main aspect on a score sheet is the sharpness, dance, jumps, and stunting ability. Due to your lack of stunting ability I would focus on a position and but a good amount of energy towards building your strength.

if you are tiny and have great balance and flexibilty you will want to be a flyer. You will need to stretch everyday and keep in physical shape.

if you are either tall or strong or both you will either be a backspot or a base. Both of these positions require strength and lots of physical endurance.

    remember practice makes perfect!
