Cheerleading tryout tips [heel stretch]]?

Ok, so i have cheerleading tryouts on friday and i NEED to get my heel stretch down. I really need help! I would appreciate it so much!

  1. Ok if you're still at the level of this shoelace and having a friend hold your leg thing you'll never get it by friday.  Sorry, thats just the reality of the situation.

    You really need to be able to stand on the ground and kick your leg up (the leg that you usually use as your free leg in a lib) and grab it and hold it.  You need to be able to do this without moving very much, and obviously without moving your supporting leg.  To help you not move keep your core (abs) tight and focus looking at one spot on the wall in front of you.  You need to be able to do this successfully every time before you even try it in a lib!

    Once you get it down try it in a half-lib with spotters.  Go up to your lib first, but keep your free leg down by your ankle.  When you feel balanced, go for it!

    If you practiced enough on the ground it should be a breeze to catch that leg.

    Oh, and you can catch the calf and not the heel.

    And also don't do that stupid thing where people get up and bend their knee and grab their heel and try to straighten it out.  This takes way too long and looks awkward.

    i've been a cheerleader since i was six, and i have been able to do my heel stretch and scorpian since i was 8.

    now i'm 13.

    the trick is, get a shoe lace and tie it around your ancle and pull it up.

    also have a friend help you. put your leg on their should have them lift up while another friend helps your stay balanced.

  3. okay so im a cheerleader and i JUST learned how to do my heel stretch...more like perfecting it...okay im 12 and your probably thinking "how can a 12 year old help ME" well i already can do my full so i think i can do a heel stretch...okay well the one thing that i didnt do in the first place was hold my heel! HEHE! thats the main word! well make sure you actually hold your heel because TRUST ME it helps ALOT! well hold it up almost next to your body...if your not flexible stretch every morning and night and you will be like a rubber band,thats what i did and it worked. email me if you need help or if your just bored because im ALWAYS bored to lol.=]
