  1. I've been cheering for 8 years...so I hope I can help you...you should know all the jumps because they could ask you to any of the jumps..so if you don't already know how to do a toe touch, side hurdler, pike, front hurdler, or double nine, then you need to learn...If you can tumble...that's a HUGE plus...you shouldn't have to do stunts at tryouts..You learn them during practice...You should wear a solid color t-shirt and solid color shorts...for instance for my tryouts I wore a white t-shirt and blue shorts..my school colors...the judges at tryouts won't want anything to take away from you and your skills so you have to be very plain...wear cheerleading sneakers if you have them, but if you don't..any sneakers will do...put your hair in a ponytail and put a ribbon around it to match what you are wearing..you'll look like a cheerleader then..and that you know what you are doing...make sure you stretch a lot before you tryout..and most likely you will go to a tryout clinic with the coach before tryouts to learn all the material needed to tryout..dance, cheer. jumps etc....Always have a smile on your face from the time you enter the room until you leave, when you cheer, make your motions very sharp...and make sure you are able to be heard..be loud and cheer from your diaphram, not your throat...but most importantly...have fun...and look like you are happy to be there...because if you aren't...you won't stand out...I really really hope I helped...=]...GOOD LUCK!!!..and you should totally message me if you make it..=]

  2. 1. Prepare by stretching every day. That way your muscles wont be sore  and it will help you get more flexible for tryouts.

    2. Every school is different on what you have to do for tryouts. At my school, they ask you for three jumps, toe touch, hurkie, and jump of choice. They also asked for a split and a roundoff. You could do additional tumbling too if you wanted. You also had to perform the cheer and dance they taught us, and make up your own chant. Some schools ask for stunts, but others dont.

    3. Wear soffes or any short shorts with a loose plain t-shirt. Put your hair up in a high ponytail in a ribbon of your school's colors. Wear sneakers, and no jewelry or makeup.

Good luck! I hope you make it! :)

  3. Hey, my school just had try out about 4 months ago. I had never cheered and really been athletic but i wanted to try out anyways because it's something I've always been interested in. Well i practiced every day on my jumps, loudness, sharpness of my motions(something you might want to look up), Tumbing, and my smile. ( a smile is important) I had talked to several former cheerleaders for tips, they really helped me out.  For tryouts I wore a school t-shirt and school colored shorts, a high ponytail with a bow, and last but not least a huge peppy smile.

Stunts, well I'm the top girl on my team but here is advise just to be prepare.

Top girl- Don't be scared just do it and keep your knees locked at all times

Base- If your back hurts your doing it wrong, you should lift only with your legs and sometimes arms it depends if it goes into an extend.

Toetouchs- try hipflexers- sit on the floor in straddle position as far a part as possible. Lift one leg up with your feet facing the back wall and bounce it ten times then do the same with your other leg then with both legs at the same time. ( This might hurt a little) = ]

To practice a hurkie which is another type of jump just sit in a hurkie position and if you dont know how to do a hurkie this is how: One leg is straight out on your side when you jump up and your other leg is bent on your side

A Pike- when you jump your legs are straight out in front of you as well as your arms. Legs should be at your hip line and arms should be even with your shoulders.

This may seem hard but you can get it. I would try practicing these jumps while your still on the ground, try them first laying on your back.

You should expect fun....and hard work...but it all pays off. Good luck i hope the best for you.

  4. Every school is different. My cousins school is super hard core on their cheerleading, only accept people who can do back hand springs, scorps, ect. Mine is pretty laid back and a lot of people get accepted  (most quit, our coach is a moron).

You shoud go on youtube and see if you can find your old schools compeition/ practise/game videos. See how extreme it is.
